Each June we celebrate Pride as we embrace and uplift the LGBTQ community. But while we celebrate we must also remember and honor those who came before us and paved the way for our freedom and equality.

On Saturday, June 26th The Chabot theatre, together with Castro Valley Pride and Books on B will celebrate Pride month and share LGBTQ history. The award-winning film ‘MILK’ will be shown, with a special appearance by Cleve Jones. After the film, Cleve will take the stage for a live Q&A session, and will then personally sign copies of his book ’When We Rise: My Life in the Movement’ which will be available for purchase. Cleve Jones is an American AIDS and LGBTQ rights activist. He conceived the The Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, which has become the world's largest piece of community folk art. In 1983, at the onset of the AIDS pandemic Cleve co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which has grown into one of the largest and most influential AIDS advocacy organizations in the United States.

Please join us. Happy Pride.
